Guide on how to record what's on your screen for WPS users

If you want to record what's on your screen and have a video automatically added to your Google Drive, you can now. The app you need is already deployed to all users at Wheatley Park - so staff and students can now easily record their own video guides.

You need to use the Snagit App with you can find in your Chrome Apps - make sure you are signed in to Chrome. If you are on an PC and want a microphone, ITSupport can lend you one. Chromebooks have a mic built in.

Brief Guide below:

Just a little note - you do need to enable the screen capture flag in Chrome to use this. I already had this enabled as I also use Screencastify. Snagit will prompt you to enable this - you will need to restart your browser or Chromebook. Now I've noticed enabling this flag causes a notably lag from login to your desktop on Chromebooks. Not so bad on my Pixel but slow on an HP11 I've tested.  So something to watch....

In terms of quality, it works great on a PC and my Pixel, but on the HP11 the audio was echoed a lot. So I think its something for the newer Chromebooks and PCs really - at least at the moment.

Delete a specific email using GAM

If a user send an inappropriate email to a loads of people or get stung by some sort of email exploit you can quickly delete the email from all of the recipients using a GAM command. Step 1 - get the email header Go into Google Vault and search for the offending user or someone known to have got the message. Click show details and grab the email ID. This will be a long string of characters followed by @mail.gmail.com Step 2 - find out who has the email Go into Google Vault and find the original message sent by the offending user. Look at the details to see who got it. Copy the list and dump it into a spreadsheet. Clean up to just a list of emails with a column header 'mail'. Save as a csv file. Collecting Photos/Videos with a Google Form

I recently realised that an easy way to collect and sort Photos and Videos was to use Forms. We had to take photos of every room in the school and have them archived for easy discovery in the event of an insurance claim. So I made a simple form that had the room name as the first question and a file upload question for the next: I linked this to a spreadsheet and added the formula =split(C2,",") to an extra column. This simply splits the list of image urls into separate cells to make them clickable. On a phone, you just load up the form, add the room number, hit the upload button, select upload file and choose Camera. You can then add photos straight from your camera.    Took a couple of minutes to setup and no photo organising required at the end of the process.
